The struggle with lust
Man’s struggle with his desires is a struggle like a struggle against enemies with spears. Sometimes he wins and sometimes he is defeated. He may win without suffering any wounds, or he may sustain minor or severe wounds, or he may be killed. Man’s struggle with his desires is a struggle like a struggle against enemies with spears. Sometimes he wins and sometimes he is defeated. He may win without any injuries, he may suffer minor or severe injuries, or he may be killed. Among the greatest helpers in the battle against lust are: constant repentance , and competing with obedience, especially (prayer and remembrance) for their great effect on Satan , and bearing witness to God’s love even in the event of a fall. The Prophet , may God bless him and grant him peace, said , in what he narrated from his Lord, the Almighty and Majestic, that he said: A servant committed a sin and said: “O God, forgive my sin.” So God, the Blessed and Exalted, said: “My servant committed a sin and knew that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for sins.” Then he sinned again and said: “O God, forgive my sin.” So God, the Blessed and Exalted, said: “My servant committed a sin and knew that he has a Lord who forgives sins.” And He takes him to task for his sin. Then he sinned again and said: O my Lord, forgive my sin. So the Blessed and Exalted said: My servant committed a sin and knew that he has a Lord who forgives sins and takes him to task for sins. Do whatever you wish, for I have forgiven you . Abd al-A’la said: I do not know whether he said the third or the fourth time: Do whatever you wish (narrated by Muslim). In Bukhari , from the hadith of Anas – may God be pleased with him – he said: I was with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, when a man came to him and said: O Messenger of God, I have committed a hadd punishment, so carry it out on me. He said: And he did not ask him about it. He said: And the time for prayer came, so he prayed with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. When the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, finished the prayer, the man stood up and said: O Messenger of God, I have committed a hadd punishment, so carry out the Book of God on me. He said: “ Have you not… ” Did you pray with us? He said: Yes. He said: Then Allah has forgiven your sin. Or he said: He has punished you. Al-Hasan Al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: What about a man who does not refrain from committing a sin, but his tongue never stops mentioning Allah ? He lowered his head for a long time, then said: That is indeed a great help.
